The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Senior Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Owning, protecting, and improving the designs for a specific set of commercialized products within the Medical Solutions Division (MSD) using design control principles

  • Leading and supporting projects that positively impact quality, performance, service, and cost through Product & Process Understanding (PPU) efforts

  • Collaborating with cross-functional global teams composed of members from manufacturing, regulatory, application engineering, business, clinical, and multiple other functions

  • Utilizing available resources and experts to drive impactful product design changes to existing commercialized projects to maximize customer satisfaction and promote business success

  • Maintaining product design documentation in compliance with MSD Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other regulatory requirements

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution

  • Two (2) combined years of experience developing, supporting and/or maintaining commercialized products in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Strong, demonstrated use of project management techniques to lead cross functional teams in projects that drive improvement and proven results

  • Combined minimum of three (3) years of product or manufacturing experience in the medical device industry and/or relevant Quality Management Systems (QMS) experience (i.e. FDA 21 CFR 820, FDA 21 CFR 210/211, ISO 13485)

  • History of effective execution of change management, root cause analysis, and issue resolution

  • Statistical knowledge and practice (e.g. Design of Experiments (DOE), Sampling Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), PPU, and Lean Six Sigma)

  • Strong communication skills (written, oral, and presentation) and systems proficiency

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
