The Pastoral Care Associate provides pastoral care to residents, family members and staff. Pastoral care includes praying for and with understanding, encouragement, and an ecumenical approach and with humor as indicated.


Schedule:



  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but also have ability to work weekends

 


Program Summary


 


The Neighborhoods at St. Elizabeth is a unique community specializing in a comprehensive array of personalized rehabilitation and nursing services. Through compassionate individualized care, our goal is to put autonomy back into the hands of the Elders we serve, enabling each individual to achieve his or her highest potential. Elders are intimately involved in creating tailored programs and are supported through the talents of our specially trained staff. In addition to focusing on the medical needs of Elders, the staff at St. Elizabeth is also passionate about providing holistic care by attending to spiritual and emotional needs, as well.


 


Pastoral Care Associate responsibilities:


 



  • Demonstrates an attitude consistent with philosophy, mission and core values of Catholic Charities, Senior Services Division and St. Elizabeth Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

  • Completes spiritual assessment of newly admitted resident within 72 hours of admission as assigned.

  • Makes regular pastoral visits in assigned units, listening with attention and compassion.

  • Offers pastoral support to critically ill residents or those residents receiving hospice or comfort care as well as to their families.

  • Carries out assigned pastoral activities e.g., Communion Services, Bible Study, “Reflect, Reminisce, and Pray” at Noah’s Place, Rosary, prayer services, and Communion rounds if the priest is unavailable.

  • Facilitates Protestant services.

  • Reports concerns regarding a resident, family member or staff to Director of Pastoral Care or appropriate manager.

  • Rotates weekend coverage with other staff.

  • Attends mandatory in-service or other training programs.

  • Provides clerical assistance to the Pastoral Care Coordinator as requested.

 


Pastoral Care Associate requirements:


 



  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum two years of experience in Pastoral Care or related work preferably in an environment working with seniors.

  • Must be able to relate and work with seniors who are ill, disabled, or emotionally upset.

  • Must be capable of considerable walking without assistance while carrying approximately 25 pounds, able to push wheel chairs and Geri-chairs, and able to stand for periods of time.

  • Currently a Eucharistic Minister or eligible and willing to become a Eucharistic Minister.
