Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Ability to assist in leading the activities of the team to ensure work objectives are met. Proficient with all aspects of admitting and verification. Monitors and manages work queues. Ability to interpret insurance benefits, authorization requirements, and admission requirements. Ability to role model outstanding customer service skills using "Simply Better" and AIDET principles. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner and promotes conflict resolution. Serves as a knowledgeable and available resource to the staff. Avoids HIPAA violations by choosing correct MRN and maintains complete patient confidentiality. Ensures all registration forms are complete, signed, and scanned. Enters notes in Epic as required. Collects and posts payments timely and accurately. Immediately drops payment in safe or cash drawer. Maintains registration accuracy rate of 95% or better. Ability to be at work and be on time. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the admitting, registration and insurance verification or equivalent healthcare experience.
- Prior leadership experience required.
- Knowledge of all aspects of the admitting department.
- Must communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Must have strong customer service and computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
- Knowledgeable of insurance payors: PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, & Cal-Optima.
- Positive work ethic.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
