Purpose:

Responsible for the following related to Hyundai motor vehicles:

~ Support day-to-day operations of the United States Safety Office including, but not limited to; TREAD Early Warning Reporting, vehicle safety investigations, industry-wide regulatory actions research, and market impact analysis.

~ Periodically support interactions with government regulatory agencies in resolving issues or industry partners in sharing best practices and/or regulation reform.

 

Major Responsibilities:

~ Manage TREAD quarterly collection/reporting and perform ad hoc analyses of report data to identify any emerging trends.

~ Work with warranty, consumer affairs, finance, and engineering groups to gather information responsive to TREAD and various requests from government agencies.

~ Maintain TREAD IT system(s) and identify/implement system improvements as needed. Responsibility includes management of vendor/stakeholder resources, monitoring overall system performance, escalation of identified problems, and monitoring effectiveness of any system countermeasures.

~ Monitoring/analysis of internal data sources (e.g. PIR accident reports, CA complaints, warranty claims, Techline cases, Technical Service Bulletins) to identify any emerging issues related to safety.

~ Monitoring/analysis of external data sources (e.g. VOQ’s, competitor recalls, government investigations) to identify any emerging issues related to safety.

~ Support the development and notification of new domestic/foreign safety recalls to government agencies.

~ Support the launch of various recall and customer service campaigns (e.g. owner notifications, dealer communications review, monitoring of campaign completion rates)

~ Support and participate in recurring discussions with government agencies on various TREAD and safety-related topics.

 

Authority:

~ Position requires a high-level of authority to self-check and ensure accuracy when analyzing high volumes of data analysis and comprehending granular levels of detail.

~ Position requires applying a high level of independent judgment and the ability to understand how various factors and trends can impact business decision-making.

~ Position requires an aptitude for identifying and employing IT systems used for in-depth analysis, including statistical quality analysis, of high volumes of data.

~ Position requires autonomy in creating standardized work for various data monitoring, analysis, and issue escalation procedures.

~ Position requires attaining and maintaining a moderate level of technical knowledge about Hyundai vehicles to assist in identifying potential vehicle safety conditions.

~ Position requires a high level of time management skills when dealing with regulatory deadlines and schedules.

 

Education:

~ Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.

~ Master’s degree a plus but not required.

 

Related Experience:

~ Five or more years of experience in a technical field emphasizing comprehensive analysis of quality data and metrics.

~ One or more years of experience in the automotive business, including, vehicle safety, design, testing, field reliability evaluation, and service is preferred.

 

Skill/Knowledge:

~ General automotive technical knowledge – body, chassis, powertrain, brakes, electrical, safety systems.

~ Ability to read and comprehend federal regulations related to automotive safety.

~ Ability to accurately analyze high-volume technical data.

~ Ability to identify trends and outliers based on fundamental statistical modelling.

~ Gather information from government, industry and other electronic resources.

~ Develop charts, reports, and/or presentations summarizing findings for both technical and non-technical audiences.

~ Ability to adapt to evolving IT systems in support of managing technical data.

~ General knowledge of record retention principles.

~ Ability to represent the company in a professional manner to government agencies, other companies, and local law firms.

~ Aptitude to work well with and communicate clearly with members of various HMA and HMC quality, engineering, testing, and service departments.

 

Physical requirements:

~ Normal office duties.

~ Must be able to travel to support periodic industry action meetings pertaining to safety-defect data analysis best practices.
