Role and Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, install, calibrate, repair and perform preventive maintenance of electronic, electro-mechanical, and/or mechanical instrumentation.

1. Disassembles, inspects, cleans, repairs, calibrates, tests, and performs periodic maintenance of specialty equipment, systems and controls.

2. Operates such electronic test equipment as multimeters, frequency generators and counters, galvanometers, digital logic probes and oscilloscopes.

3. Inspects, evaluates and determines necessary modification, performs complex repairs or removal of instruments or devices needing overhaul during scheduled maintenance.

4. May troubleshoot/service or resolve problems while performing unscheduled work.

5. Records and reports abnormal function or out of tolerance conditions of equipment and initiates corrective action and documentation.

6. Locates part sources, estimates costs and prepares requisition

7. Reinstalls, tests, evaluates, calibrates, and maintains instruments or devices upon completion of repairs.

8. Documents daily record of inspection, maintenance activity, repair and other work performed within approved guidelines and procedures.

9. Communicates with customer staff and outside contractors in the calibration, repair and operation of equipment as necessary and coordinates with outside contractors regarding repairs covered by maintenance agreements

10. Writes equipment, maintenance and calibration procedures.

11. Provides direction to less experienced Instrumentation/Calibration Technicians

12. Complies with company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards.

13. Performs work in accordance with approved equipment, calibration, maintenance and safety procedures.

14. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

1. Two-year degree, scientific field of study or construction management preferred.

2. Theree years of experience in instrumentation and control or installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing equipment or equivalent experience.

3. Demonstrated use and understanding of physical standards of mass, temperature, flow and pressure.

4. Working knowledge of computers/PLC’s.

5. Required to be able to read and work from blueprints, schematic diagrams and specification manuals.

6. Must be physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to: climb ladders, work in confined spaces and lift heavy objects weighting up to 50 lbs.

7. Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.

8. May require experience specific to the pharmaceutical R&D industry including the making of chemical standards using appropriate techniques for weighing, pipetting, mixing, diluting, and verifying concentrations.

9. May require an understanding of FDA regulations, GMPs, and GLPs and use of scientific notation (specific to pharmaceutical industry)
