Because of our growth, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Electric Utilities in Toledo, OH or Columbus, OH.
The Project Manager will be involved in the successful management of an existing client and their projects, business growth strategies, business development, and will help direct large/complex projects. This dynamic individual will be responsible for profit and loss on projects which includes planning, directing and coordinating operations, including staff engineers, surveyors, GIS analysts/technicians, photogrammetrists, sub-contractor resources, and field operations. The Project Manager will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, contractors, and client representatives to ensure quality deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget. Additionally, the Project Manager will be involved in business development and sales in the energy industry with a primary focus on transmission and distribution and/or substation projects within the Electric Utility market.
We are looking for someone with a unique mix of technical depth and business acumen to lead a diverse project team. Our Project Managers support the growth of our Energy Market and may be asked to assist with electric and gas utility projects in other states by providing design, engineering, and geospatial services to a variety of Energy clients.
Responsibilities:
Identify and communicate business growth opportunities and serve as the Electric Utility Subject Matter Expert during the project, sales cycle and/or Request for Proposal (RFP) process
Facilitate scope meetings with clients to construct needs analysis and project definitions
Direct and collaborate with cross-functional teams across all project phases from conceptual/preliminary design, detailed design, to construction
Ensure deliverables and quality standards are met in accordance with the agreed scope, schedule, and budget
Lead relationship building/business development with the client to earn the opportunity to pursue additional projects
Participate in shortlist presentations to prospective clients
Develop and implement corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident. Collaborate with senior management to resolve schedule and budget problems as they arise
Facilitate client-facing change management and provide on-going communication throughout the project
Accountable for the successful delivery of assigned projects
Interface with internal project teams on weekly expenditures, budget metrics, and successful client invoicing
Report project and financial metrics via Woolpert's accounting/management software
Ensure recurring client interactions, including frequent client office meetings and trips to project sites
Desire to stay aware of advancements in the industry and creatively find ways to offer new services to existing clients
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, GIS, Survey or related field
Related work experience managing Engineering and Geospatial projects within the Electric utility (transmission, distribution, and sub-stations) market
PE, GISP, PLS and/or PMPis preferred, but not mandatory
Prefer experience in inspection, survey, and design for both electric distribution and transmission operations along with a thorough knowledge and understanding of Electric Utility codes and regulations
Familiarity with the concepts and utilization of GIS, CAD, and PLS-CADD data for Electric utility operations
Proven leadership skills to manage multiple engineers, surveyors, technicians and field crews to deliver multi-disciplinary projects
Verifiable knowledge of Deltek, Smartsheet and Microsoft Office Suite - including MS Project
Strong ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment
Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment; offer constructive feedback and direction to support goals
Quickly adapt and respond to industry changes as well as internal initiatives
