 If you are a Software Developer looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Austin, Texas location, you will be part of the Software Development team for the DeltaV Process Control System.  You will be a member of an Agile Scrum team responsible for full stack development of features for the DeltaV Control System. This team focuses on Control Applications, Simulation, Batch, Advanced Control, and Device Data Integration portions of the system.  This candidate’s focus will be on embedded real-time software applications running on custom micro-processor based hardware with the opportunity to also work on applications development in a Microsoft Windows environment. This embedded real-time software is written in C and C++ for execution under a real time operating system such as QNX, Linux or similar environment.  AS A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, YOU WILL: 


  • Generation of user stories and software designs in accordance with Marketing and Human Centered Design requirements and specifications
  • Code development
  • Unit level, integration and system testing 
  • Software support and maintenance of released software
  • Develop high quality, high-performance, secure code capable of running on multiple platforms using object-oriented and/or services-based methodologies

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related engineering field and 3 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related engineering field and 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the development of embedded real-time firmware/software
  • Experience with commercial real-time embedded operating systems (QNX or similar)
  • Experience and/or knowledge of virtualization is required
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Microsoft Windows based application development in a real-time environment
  • Well versed in C and C++ development and object-oriented design
  • Experience and/or knowledge of C#
  • Willing to work in a small team environment using an Agile development process
  • Familiar with or have experience developing software using Agile/scrum methodology
  • Demonstrated versatility and self-motivation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • Experience architecting and designing embedded real-time applications
  • Experience with low level microprocessor programming including PowerPC and Arm processors
  • Experience with Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server 
  • UML, MFC/C++, WPF/C#, WCF and HTML5/Javascript experience
  • An understanding or experience with Process Control or Distributed Control Systems
