Job Description Summary

The ideal candidate in this role will perform a wide range of duties in an industrial manufacturing environment. This individual will be using shop prints to cut, form, weld wire mesh and reinforce steel to fabricate cages in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Cuts, forms, and welds wire mesh and reinforcing steel to fabricate cages used in reinforcing concrete pipe and other concrete forms, according to blueprint or work order specifications


• Obtains roll of wire mesh of specified gauge, feeds mesh through mesh rolling auto-feeder (Elk River Hydraroll) and processes for welding

• From time to time (when auto-feeder not feasible) measures mesh with steel rule and cuts strands, using hand or pneumatic cutter)


• Perform MIG Welding and Stick Welding to secure mesh reinforcing cages together


• Expand bell end of welded wire cage using automatic cage expander


• Occasionally cuts reinforcing steel using cutting torch


• Use of hand and power tools and lifting equipment


• Other responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent


• At least 1 year of welding aluminum and stainless-steel fabrication experience or equivalent training

• Ability to perform basic mathematical skills such as reading fractions and a tape measure


• Ability to read blueprints, plans and drawings


• Experience with industrial steel tooling such as vertical band saw, drill press, grinders, plasma cutter, and torches
