Thales is seeking a Solution Architect to be based near one of our Thales sites preferably Austin, Texas. The Global Service Provider (GSP) Sales Engineer/Solution Architect will support growth targets by collaborating with the Global Service Provider Sales Director in achieving quota targets for the regional and global partners assigned. As part of the GSP Solutions Architect team, the position focuses on building our Thales Cloud Protection & Licensing (CPL) technology into managed services and offerings. This position has a high technical aptitude for security software and hardware products, possesses a deep understanding of the technical requirements of target markets and has the ability to provide solution selling techniques to Thales customers and partners. We train 100s of GSI architects not only on Thales CPL security products, but on how CPL security products integrate with the GSI service. Architects have knowledge in 5g, iot, big data, cloud migrations, sap as well as have security industry knowledge in almost every vertical.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Learn and maintain broad knowledge on all products lines sold in partnership with our Global Service Providers.


  • Act as the subject matter expert for Thales CPL security products with our Global Service Provider Partners.


  • Lead demonstrations and POCs across product portfolio for our Global Service Provider Partners.


  • Participate in regular Sales Engineering team meetings to understand, assist and facilitate the sharing of knowledge, use cases, and POC best practices.


  • Act as an escalation point for critical Sales Engineering end customer issues with Global Service Provider Partners.


  • Collaborate with Sales Directors to achieve sales targets, and maintain high customer and partner satisfaction


  • Develop quality relationships with the technical teams of service provider partners and key customers.


  • Making meaningful business use case connections between Thales products and GSP Partner’s core services.


  • Liaise with other Sales Engineers to facilitate the information and knowledge sharing among the global Sales Engineering community.


  • Contribute to sharing market feedback to product management e.g., technical features, use cases, etc.


  • Work closely (as needed) with the customer support to ensure post-sales customer support issues are properly managed.


  • Work closely with the professional services engagements with both partners and customers.


  • Building close working relationships with GSP Partners and customers to provide support for any technical requirement(s).


  • Providing expert advice to End Users and Partners on Thales CPL products and systems.


  • Maintaining regular contacts and meetings with Senior Technical Management at key partners and end users.


  • Working with Sales Directors and regional marketing teams, to support where necessary, specific sales and marketing activities.


  • Providing technical training to Partners.


  • Delivering complex Proof of Concepts (POCs).


  • Delivering presentations on behalf of Thales at Security Conferences and seminars.


Required Skills and Experience:


  • 5 to 7+ years of prior experience as a solution engineer/consultant, pre-sales engineer or IT administrator/operations.


  • Previous experience using UNIX, Linux and Windows Server operating systems; both understanding and hands on experience.


  • Must have hands on working experience in at least one of the following areas:  storage systems, databases (Oracle, DB2 or SQL server) or security (encryption, access control, PKI, digital certificates).


  • Ability to do basic network troubleshooting.


  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills.

  • Articulate, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, enterprise customers, system integrators, and leading cloud service providers.

  • Flexibility in work schedules may vary across global time zones.


  • Ability to travel up to 50% per month, both domestically and international.


Preferred Skills and Experience:


  • Prior scripting experience using python, PowerShell or REST API.


  • Strong understanding of Global System Integrator services and offerings.


  • Enterprise software installation experience is required; installation across private, public and hybrid clouds.


  • Familiarity with major cloud service provider platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud etc.) and cloud enablement technology platforms (e.g., VMware, Openstack, application containers, etc.)
