Bus Driver - Day Camp (WAD) at Akron Area YMCA

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

Transportation

Drive students to and from site during school days and various places during fun day "field trips"
Comply with ODJFS state licensing guidelines and requirements regarding transportation
Have complete knowledge of emergency procedures appropriate for bus transportation/evacuation to ensure the safety of the children and record as required
Report any vehicle maintenance concerns to the child camp director(s)
Schedule vehicle repair &/or maintenance appointments with branch approved vendor(s)
Responsible for re-fueling as needed
Perform weekly vehicle inspections and conduct monthly fire training evacuations per ODJFS requirements
Record mileage driven to and from each destination using mileage log
Be responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of the vehicle
Communicate with the day camp staff and campers about expectations while bus is in motion prior to departure
Communicate with the camp director(s) about staff or student problems
Work with day director(s) to create a fun, safe atmosphere during the bus rides

Professional Expectations

Attend all staff meetings, training sessions, workshops and conferences as requested or required
Be knowledgeable of the Annual Campaign financial assistance program
Take the initiative to do what needs to be done
Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age or older
Must have at least 1 year of experience driving a bus
Must qualify under ODJFS stipulations to be a driver





Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.



Performance Objectives:

This position can and should positively affect the physical, mental, social and emotional development of the YMCA participant. The bus driver will successfully fulfill his/her job description by meeting or exceeding the childcare and youth development programs. Participants should always have a positive and enjoyable experience at the YMCA.
