Job Description:

This is an opportunity to join the Americas Country Risk research team at the top-ranked independent research provider, Fitch Solutions. The role involves working closely with our Americas Country Risk team to cover economic and political developments in Latin America and the Caribbean.


  • BA or MA in Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Regional Studies or similar with at least intermediate level economics coursework.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience in developing quantitative and qualitative economic and/or political analysis acquired through coursework, internship and/or professional experience.

Role:


  • Produce macroeconomic forecasts and written research on markets in Latin America and the Caribbean , acting as analytical lead for a portfolio of major economies.
  • Follow political developments across Latin America and the Caribbean and produce commercially-minded political risk research.
  • Monitor financial market developments, maintaining close contact with team members to flag key developments.
  • Maintain and develop databases
  • Work closely with the head of Americas Country Risk and fellow team members to ensure analytical consistency of regional views.
  • Collaborate with Industry analysts to ensure consistency of Industry and Country Risk analysis and to create integrated, topical research.
  • Present key views to clients and prospective clients via email, phone calls and in-person meetings.

Skills:


  • Ability to work with and analyze large data sets, experience forecasting key macroeconomic indicators highly desirable
  • Understanding of and interest in global politics, economics and financial markets
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage own time and adhere to publication deadlines
  • Working knowledge of macroeconomic and political issues affecting Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Ability to incorporate constructive feedback
  • Ability to work independently to tight deadlines, as well as in a team environment
  • Independent, out-of-the-box thinking
  • Self-starter and very strong attention to detail
  • Proactive communicator
  • Spanish language skills advantageous
