What we do:

The Federal Reserve Bank of NY's Data and Statistics function provides critical data capabilities to support a safe and sound financial system. Our work promotes Financial Stability, the implementation of domestic and international supervisory policy, and Monetary Policy. The function's mission is to increase utility and ability to use financial data through standardization, thoughtful collection design, and increase capacity of the Function to scale operations. Reporting to the Regulatory Data Manager, you will be a part of the Securities and Holdings team within the larger Financial Analysis Services Team (FAST), responsible for performing data analysis, building out and managing analytical products and responding to ongoing stakeholder and firm inquiries related to interpretive reporting topics. Specifically, the Securities and Holdings team provides services focusing on data quality assurance and analysis of Treasury International Capital (TIC) data received from U.S. financial institutions.

Your role as Regulatory Data Associate:


  • Independently conduct data analysis and visualization, and research interpretive inquiries for moderately complex data series, reporters, and data concepts. This includes providing respondents and stakeholders guidance on technical reporting issues.
  • Perform extended analysis and question respondents on data quality items of note related to complex reports and institutions
  • Establish and lead dialogue with financial institutions to enhance data quality and controls at source and proactively escalate issues
  • Independently assess and respond to ad-hoc requests such as: a) preparing procedure and user guide documents, b) providing comments, including to Board staff, on data collection operations and c) conducting studies to determine the reporting practices employed by reporting institutions.
  • Research inquiries and reporting issues and propose sound conclusions based on reporting instructions and guidance
  • Participate in function workgroups, system migration efforts, and other technology projects to improve the technology environment
What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree, in Accounting, Business, Finance or Economics with 4+ years of work experience
  • Understanding of U.S. and global capital and money markets structure and products, e.g., Equities, Private Equity, Fed Funds, Repo, Agency MBS
  • Experience identifying data and reporting discrepancies and analyze the impact of new and evolving financial instruments and market conditions concerning reporting requirements and regulations
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to make recommendations to improve workflow and service levels
  • Experience providing timely and accurate analysis, verbally and written
  • Experience working across all levels of staff and management at Reserve Banks, regulatory agencies, and regulated institutions
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; and familiarity with Tableau, SQL, R, Python, SAS or similar technology
