The Project Specialist is a key member of the project team, and uses their skills in reference lab instrumentation, reference lab processes and training expertise to drive lab expansion projects and other clinical projects forward. They participate in program and project development, disseminate project information and serve as active participants in project-related work groups and committees. They work in partnership with the Project Managers and in collaboration with other functional areas to deliver optimal project outcomes.
Lab Expansion Program
* Lab instrumentation & equipment
o Assist with/oversee on-site instrument testing & validation of equipment & processes
o Collaborates with QA to test systems and ensure staff compliance
o Schedule, track & manage instrument training (on-site and off-site) in collaboration with the local lead technician
o Installation and set-up of lab equipment (microscopes, centrifuges, etc.)
* Training
o Schedule, deliver and manage training on all laboratory analyzers
o Schedule, deliver and manage training on Zoetis Ref Lab standard operating procedures (SOPs)
o Participate in delivery of EHS training and ensure standards are achieved
o Cost estimation and tracking of implementation expenses related to training (travel, etc.)
* Manage tasks (updates, etc.) in project plans related to assigned areas of responsibility
* Collaborate with the technology implementation resource to facilitate the needed system integrations and configuration of the LIS
* Collaborate with the Procurement team to ensure that necessary supplies are on-hand and inventory processes are implemented and communicated to the local team
* Provide input for project timelines, progress reports, lessons learned and other project health assessments
* Work with entire Implementation team to define implementation standards to ensure consistency
* On-site support during go-live
Other Projects
This role would also be involved in projects outside of the Lab Expansion Program at times and as available. These projects could include (but not limited to):
* New analyzer installations
* Lab remodels/renovation
* Service improvements/implementations
* LIS conversions
Education, Licenses & Job Requirements:
* High school diploma or Bachelor's degree in a related field of study (preferred)
Skills and Experience:
* Experience working as a lab technician in a reference lab
* Experience working with, and ensuring quality specifications of, laboratory analyzers and equipment
* Good working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Excellent team player, willing to get involved at any level or capacity to ensure the project's success
* Consistent professional behavior in all activities
* Comfortable with public speaking with small groups
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to effectively prepare and present information
* Basic knowledge of workplace training concepts
* Strong organizational skills including attention to detail
