Marine Structural Engineer II at Moffatt & Nichol

Job Description:


Moffatt & Nichol's Woodlands office is searching for a Marine Structural Engineer with a Master's Degree or better in structural engineering. The Marine Structural Engineer will have 2 to 4 years' industry experience performing design services for waterfront structures including piers, wharves, quaywalls, marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures. The ideal candidate has working as a structural engineer in a team environment participating in the the production of calculations, construction drawings, material specifications, construction support services, and field inspections.

Duties and responsibilities:


  • Structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, and timber structures

  • Finite element static and dynamic structural modeling of marine structures

  • Assist Senior Engineers with the preparation of design concepts, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates

  • Prepare design calculations and check calculations

  • Coordinate plan details with engineers and drafting technicians

  • Participate in inspection and rehabilitation of waterfront structures

Qualifications:


  • Master's of Science in Civil Engineering; required PhD in Civil or Structural Engineering: preferred

  • Minimum of2 years of Marine Structural experience; required

  • EIT required

  • Experiencewith AutoCad / Civil 3D / MicroStation and SAP2000; required

  • Experience with Mike 21: preferred

  • Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category preferred

  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)

  • Due to client requirements, selected candidate must show proof of U.S. citizenship. A federal background check will be conducted

  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:

Majority of work is office-based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
