Job Summary

In this position you will:


  • Handle all aspects of assigned systems integration projects related to industrial controls.

  • Partner with mechanical systems engineers to insure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical design.

  • Guide outsourced controls partners assigned to projects where internal staff has been supplemented.

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Project Execution

    • Review customer spec documentation / bidding documents.

    • Onsite verification for bidding / system design.

    • Create hardware fabrication drawings.

    • Specify purchase components for industrial controls scope.

    • Provide guidance to fabrication shop during panel assembly.

    • Develop programs to achieve sequence of operations provided for system.

    • Assist with Quality Audits and Factory Acceptance Testing.

    • Onsite commissioning, training, and startup support.

    • Track costs to scope and report status to project manager.



  • Support Calls

    • Assist customers with troubleshooting equipment issues.

    • Perform line / system modifications.




  • Business Development

    • Work with supervisor to develop and improve internal P1 Group Controls standard

    • Work with other departments, mainly estimating and purchasing to improve margins on current and future projects



  • Leadership

    • Provides conduit of communication between staff and upper management

    • Voices comments and concerns of staff to Supervisor with solutions in mind

    • Implements company goals and direction in a productive manner to the best of their ability

    • Lives the P1 Group operating principles and leads in accordance with the company's leadership model.



Qualifications and Skills



  • Education Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering or construction related discipline, or

    • Five to ten years of related experience and/or training, or

    • Equivalent combination (five to ten years)of education and experience.

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.




  • Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years full-time work experience performing industrial controls tasks and 5 years is preferred.


  • Driving Requirements:
    • Must be able to meet P1 Group qualifications to operate a vehicle on company business. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.


  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

    • Computer Skills: The incumbent must be proficient in using email, database, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing applications: specifically Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows).

      • Written communication - writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; able to read and interpret written information.



    • Mathematical Skills: The incumbent must be able to use general business and construction/engineering mathematics skills.

    • Problem Solving - identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.


    • Reasoning Ability: The incumbent must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and he/she must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
