The Global Service Support Organization (GSS) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The GSS organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Group - KLA Instruments

The candidate will work in the GSS division in the KLA Instruments.This group is focused on markets outside of semiconductor that can utilize KLA's inspection and metrology expertise. The KLA Instruments manufactures Candela inspection systems that primarily serve data storage, compound semiconductor, LED and power device marketing as well as optical profilers, stylus profilers, nanoindenters, sheet resistance measurements, and thin film reflectometers that serve a wide range of markets: semiconductor, compound semiconductor, LED, power device, data storage, solar cells, medical devices, R&D, and laboratories, to name a few. The profilers are metrology systems that are used to measure the topography of surfaces, such as the amount of a material deposited or removed, surface texture, form, and stress.

Responsibilities

The applications development engineer will be a key growth enabler for our metrology product lines, which include optical and stylus profilers, sheet resistance measurements and thin film reflectometers product lines. The new hire will support development of new products, sustaining support for existing products, pre/post sale support, and product promotion.The applications development engineer will interface with all aspects of the organization, including engineering, operations, marketing, sales, and service. The engineer will be based at KLA's headquarters in Milpitas, California, supporting customers around the world, as well as our global engineering teams and operations teams.

The position requires the following responsibilities:

The candidate is required to develop an in-depth expertise in product operation, measurement applications, and customer processes. Support for pre-sale activities that include product demos, product presentations, development of technical papers, and support at trade shows. Support for post-sale activities that include customer training, customer support, understanding customer processes, and development of new use cases. Support new product requirements, alpha (internal) testing, beta (external) testing, and development of product documentation. Support for internal customers such as marketing, service, engineering, and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

New college graduate or early career hire with 1 or more years' experience in the semiconductor or a related field. It is desired to have a background in scanning probe microscopy, interferometry, confocal, reflectometers, sheet resistance, and/or related optical profiling techniques.

Excellent technical written and oral communication skills are required. The candidate must be willing and able to travel within the US and internationally, with the expectation of travel between 25 to 50%. The candidate must be authorized to work in the US.

Candidate must have BS, MS, or PhD in Optics, Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Level Degree

OR

Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 1 years of experience.
