A successful candidate would need to be able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions would need to be imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives. This implies a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering as well as general knowledge of other related disciplines.

The Staff Mechanical Engineer works under only general direction. They will independently determine and develop approaches to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

Excellent communication skill are required, there will be frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Experienceproviding technical direction to other engineers and designers is required


• Experiencewith computer aided tools including both solid modeling, FEA, and draftingpackages is required. Experiencewith Solidworks is strongly desired.


• Knowledgeof manufacturing processes, materials science, and prototyping techniquesis required.


• Abilityto apply mechanical engineering theories to practical designs is required.


• Knowledgeof polymers and composite materials is required.


• Knowledgeof engineering tests techniques, methods, equipment and instrumentation isrequired.


• Knowledge of domestic and international regulations (e.g. FAA or DOD regulations) on the certification of
  test articles/vehicles to assure compliance of design is desired

Education and Experience:

Typical experience:8 years minimum in an engineering classification with a Bachelor's degree or10 years minimumexperience in an engineering classification with a Master's degree.
