Job Summary

Blue Shield ofCalifornia's Organizational Development and Learning teamfocuses on programs that develop great leaders from within. The Principal, Change Management Lead for Corporate Functions and Enterprise-wide change will lead the change strategy for Blue Shield of CA to reimagine the nature of work and optimize the experience for our over 7000 employees, including hybrid/remote work and a return to the workplace. The role will also serve as a strategic change partner to senior leadership and HRBPs of Blue Shield of CA's corporate functions, including Law, Finance, External Affairs, HR / Internal Communications and Innovation.

Responsibilities


  • Serve as the change lead for select enterprise-wide prioritieswith significant strategic impact and complexity

  • Orchestrate overall change strategy and partner across Blue Shield roles (e.g. HRBPs, Internal Communications, PMO, Readiness Leads) to facilitate organizational change and deliver a seamless client experience

  • Amplify and accelerate ability to meet desired business and people outcomes of each priority

  • Foster organizational agility through engagements in across the enterprise to more readily adapt in a continually-changing environment

  • Serve as a strategic change advisor for senior leadership across Corporate Functions

  • Serve as a thought leader and change partner to leaders, the VP of HR, and broader network of HR Business Partners, Internal Communications and other stakeholders

  • Offer industry and Blue Shield of CA best practices, tools and resources for a variety of needs across the Corporate Functions; act as a capability coach around a variety of challenges

  • Establish standards for Change Management at Blue Shield of CA, leveraging internal/external practices, contributing to lessons learned, developing standard tools and resources, and engaging in the broader community of change practitioners.








Knowledge and Experience


  • Business Acumen: ability to understand business strategy and translate to people-oriented plans; knowledge of the business environment of the healthcare industry and/or healthcare plans preferred

  • Thought Leadership: knowledge of the dynamics and principles of change at the individual, team and organizational levels

  • Cultural Awareness: cultural competence and ability to understand and leverage the diversity of different cultures, behaviors, and norms

  • Empathy: ability to empathize with others, seek understanding and lead with questions to catalyze learning in others

  • Client Orientation: strong customer service orientation and professionalism to build a lasting brand for the practice of Change Management

  • Systems Thinking: ability to "connect the dots" between organizations and initiatives and work on change platforms

  • Communications: effective communicator, including the design and delivery of effective and impactful presentations

  • Facilitation: strong facilitation skills to engage across diverse teams, in both in-person and virtual formats

  • Project Management: project management skills, including ability to manage large, collaborative teams

  • Research Orientation: research orientation to apply best practices and evidence-based approaches to change

  • Diagnostic Skills: ability to break down complex challenges, identify root causes, and structure targeted recommendations

  • Creativity: demonstrated capability to develop creative solutions that engage hearts and minds through change

  • Adaptability: capability to rapidly learn, make quick decisions, and pivot as needed

  • Functional Breadth: ability to fluidly apply knowledge from multiple related disciplines in large-scale change such as communications, adult learning, leadership development, org design and design thinking

  • Experiential Breadth: demonstrated experience supporting a variety of changes (operating model, organization design, systems implementations, M&A, etc.)

  • Master's level degree in Organizational Development or related discipline, or equivalent experience (10+ years of prior relevant experience).

  • Certification and fluency in a variety of change models & methodologies (e.g. Prosci, ACMP, AIM, Kotter, GE)

  • Experience leading large-scale transformation projects across an entire enterprise (cross-functional, cross-business) from initiation through sustainment
