Network Field Technician at Uniti

Job Description:

This position works to coordinate all aspects of the Uniti Fiber utility fleet operations from purchase to liquidation, maintenance, DOT compliance, and billing approvals. This role also works closely with the HR & Safety departments as necessary. General responsibilities of the Fleet Coordinator include, but are not limited to, coordinating day-to-day operations of a utility fleet to provide tools to keep production moving safely, overseeing compliance, and tracking maintenance and upkeep costs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Oversees daily operations of the fleet, company-wide.

  • Assists in crafting and modifying the strategic fleet maintenance program.

  • Manages a computerized data information system for recordkeeping, analysis, and evaluation purposes.

  • Determines appropriate solutions to various operational and administrative problems in such areas as preventive maintenance, vehicle availability, vehicle life-cycle costing, risk management and other fleet related areas.

  • Monitors and facilitates compliance of daily vehicle maintenance schedules.

  • Assists in the creation of fleet policies and procedures, from vehicle assignment to replacement cycling, from personal use to accident reporting.

  • Ensures compliance with DOT, OSHA, and all federal and state regulations, as well as company rules and policies to include conducting internal audits.

  • Responsible for daily accident reporting to Human Resources and Safety and the subsequent repair and replacement of assets.

  • Handles annual registration renewals for license, tags, and insurance.

  • Monitors drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices.

  • Provides reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance, and fleet progress.

  • Identifies and takes action on cost saving projects, standards, and practices.

  • Collaborates with other senior leaders to continue or improve the overall strategy, vision, and direction to ensure the fleet meets company needs.

Education and/ or Experience:


  • 5 years of experience or equivalent education.

  • Experience in creating and establishing organizational policies and procedures.

  • Budgetary experience and negotiating skills.

  • Experience processing tags and titles for fleet vehicles.

  • Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and U.S. Department of Transportation experience.

  • Microsoft Office experience, specifically Excel & PowerPoint.

  • Electronic logging device mandate knowledge.

  • GPS and Telematics system experience.

  • Telecommunication industry experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of internal roles and responsibilities to link duties with fleet utility.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.

  • Ability to interact effectively with other team members.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, organize, and communicate effectively.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and quickly changing work environment with strict deadlines.

  • Must be able to work independently without supervision.

  • Sitting, standing, and walking.

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds several times a day.

  • Ability to read effectively from a computer screen, sampling device and/or a paper copy.

Working Conditions:


  • Ability to work multiple tasks in a stressful environment while maintaining a positive and pleasant manner with others.

  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced office environment.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
