Sorenson Communications, LLC. offers Video Relay Service (VRS), which gives Deaf, who use American Sign Language (ASL), and hearing people the option to communicate in their preferred language - either ASL or spoken English or Spanish. Sorenson also provides onsite and remote interpreting services between English and various other world languages.



CaptionCall, LLC. offers Internet protocol captioned telephone service (IP CTS) using advanced technology and a captioning agent to quickly provide written captions of what callers say on a large, easy-to-read screen.



Job Summary


Sorenson Communications is looking for a qualified HR Specialist to join the Human Resources team. This position will provide HR assistance to the HR department by performing the duties and functions listed below. The responsibilities listed below are not meant to cover every task for this position, but rather, provide an overview of responsibilities in general. This position is responsible for performing duties on a professional level to provide the highest level of service to all client groups.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Coordinate and input all PAN (Personnel Action Notices) and changes

  • Meet payroll and tax deadlines

  • Backup for Filing Clerk and HR Clerk responsibilities

  • Data entry of HR information into HRIS system

  • Aid with the daily administrative operations across all aspects of the Human Resources department

  • Maintain employee records

  • Responsible for answering phone inquiries within scope of responsibility and refers inquiries to proper resource when necessary

  • Research and respond to employee inquiries, where applicable and as directed

  • Other duties as assigned to help support business need



Supervisory Responsibility


This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.



Travel Requirements


Travel Requirements: Less than 25%



Education


Minimum/Preferred Education Description


Minimum High School Diploma or GED



Experience


Minimum Years of Experience Description



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word

  • Successful candidate will have proven ability to work well as a team member, possess a high desire to contribute to the overall success of the HR department.

  • Able to understand and follow basic instructions and articulate problems and issues to other member of HR team and employees.

  • Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Must have strong customer service skills, particularly on the phone and a positive and professional demeanor.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Organized and detail oriented

  • Knowledge of ASL preferred.

  • Some HR Experience preferred.



Working Conditions and Physical Requirements



  • Able to sit/ stand for a long period of time in an office environment

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer components

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs

  • Regular and predictable attendance required.

  • Positive attitude, team player, good interpersonal communication skills and able to work across company departments.
