This Mechanical Engineer II will be a critical member of our Advanced Surgical division's R&D team, based in Denver, CO. The engineer will have immediate opportunities to contribute to new product development with a focus on minimally invasive surgical technologies designed to deliver real benefits to surgeons, hospitals and their patients.

As a CONMED Mechanical Engineer II, you will have accountability and ownership of one or more projects. Responsibilities will include:



  • Leads engineering projects for conceptual design, detailed design, CAD modeling, prototyping, and troubleshooting for sustaining engineering projects

  • Design analyses including theoretical calculations for component fit and tolerance analysis, tolerance stack-up, and stress calculations


  • Design high quality, reliable medical products such as reusable instruments, low cost electrosurgical disposables and electrosurgical generators

  • Development of written protocols, reports and presentations related to design activities.

  • Performing and/or supervising the verification and validation testing of new and existing products and test reporting.

  • Additional responsibilities may include cost reduction redesign of products and solving design and manufacturing problems on existing product lines.

  • Regularly interfaces with key stakeholders, such as quality, regulatory, marketing, manufacturing, and purchasing, to drive closure to engineering projects

  • Delivery of work products to an agreed upon schedule

  • Work in all phases of design, development, component procurement, assembly, test, validation, and manufacturing support

  • 2-5 years engineering work experience required, preference placed on experience in medical device product design and development

  • Proficiency in 3-D CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or highly related field) required

  • Plastic injection molding, injection molded part design

  • Existing knowledge/experience in electrical engineering schematic design and component selection is a plus

  • Experience of FEA / CFD tools is a plus

  • This position is not open to employer based sponsorship

  • Travel 0-20%
