Moffatt & Nichol is actively searching for a Waterfront Structural Engineer to perform design for waterfront structures and marine infrastructures projects, including marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures, bulkheads, breakwater and shore protection structures. The ideal candidate has 6-15 years of experience working from conceptual layout through the design process. This position may be located at any of our West Coast offices including Seattle or Federal Way, WA; Walnut Creek, Long Beach, or San Diego, CA; or Honolulu, HI.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, and design on waterfront projects relating to:
  
  
  • Structural analysis, design, and detailing for concrete, steel, timber, etc.
  
  
  • Inspection and rehabilitation of waterfront structures
  
  
  • Urban waterfront projects
  
  
  
  


• Manage waterfront structural projects


• Provide construction support as needed


• Design structures utilizing knowledge of shoreline protection materials and breakwaters design


• Maintain project budgets


• Conduct document preparation, support, and evaluation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's in Structural Engineering preferred


• PE in CA, WA, OR, or HI, or ability to obtain PE through reciprocity within 6 months


• 6-15 years of experience in Marine structural engineering design and project management with a consulting firm or marine related client, required


• Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in Port Engineering preferred


• Department of Defense (DOD) marine structural engineering project experience a plus


• Good communication skills and ability to work with a team approach


• Due to client requirements, selected candidate must show proof of U.S. citizenship. A federal background check will be conducted

Physical requirements:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
