If you are a Field Service Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Houston, TX location, you will play a major role in the utilization of all resources associated with the development and generation of the service/field projects business segments.  You also provide the matrix supervision to a large group of more Junior Field Engineer personnel in handling all aspects of these businesses in dealing with the customers.  AS A FIELD ENGINEERING SPECIALIST, YOU WILL:   


  • Contact customers to review and promote their needs for service, maintenance contracts, systems adds, and stand-alone system requirements.
  • Develop and direct the implementation of "engineered system" projects or systems adds utilizing current and non-current technologies.
  • Provide project management on large Division projects during installation, start-up, or where it is required to supervise PWS subcontractors (such as system installers).
  • Utilize highly specialized knowledge and skills in an advisory or technical assistant role to Division Engineers and Management on complex technical or related problems.
  • Recommend and justify additions to staff, interview and recommend the hiring or candidates for Field Engineering positions, review performance of field engineers assigned to his area, and recommend salary adjustments.
  • Follow negotiated changes which effect the scope of a project or program ensuring that the lower classified field engineers have sufficient technical and administrative support to perform efficiently and effectively.
  • Analyze, investigate and resolve customer warranty and policy claims.  This requires an in-depth knowledge of the obligations and restrictions set forth by warranties and policies so that claims may be settled promptly and efficiently.
  • Become certified on divisional products where appropriate.

You show a tremendous amount of initiative in tough situations and are exceptional at spotting and seizing opportunities. You set stretch goals and objectives, pushing individuals or teams to perform at higher levels.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelor of Science degree, or will consider 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum of 8 years of related field experience. 
  • Experience Manufacturing Automation, Power Plant, Water / Wastewater, or Refining. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% (post COVID restrictions).
  • Must display a high degree of ingenuity, resourcefulness, and competence in day to day technical activities.
  • Be recognized as an expert in the industry and have demonstrated competence in related fields.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
