As a National Competitive Unit Cost Senior Advisor, this resource's main focus is the identification, evaluation, analysis, validation, recommendation, reporting and implementation of competitive unit cost data sources, with an initial focus on Hospital Price Transparency data. The focus of the role is to provide actionable information to support Contract Negotiations and drive improved Affordability. The role will be involved in some high profile Provider Contracting negotiations.

This is a technical and analytical position. This individual will be responsible for owning the value delivery of Hospital Price Transparency information to be leveraged in negotiations. This individual will manage and triage the technical aspects of data, perform analytics and clearly communicate with the team and matrix partners relevant issues and findings. This position supports building out competitive tools and reporting to support Local Market Affordability initiatives, national competitive initiatives as well as Contracting strategies, and ensuring competitive information is accurately portrayed and can be leveraged along with other competitive data points in the triangulation process. This position is responsible for working in a highly matrixed organization in a collaborative manner and exhibiting behaviors, attitudes and actions that demonstrate a high level of teamwork.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be the Subject Matter Expert on Hospital Price Transparency


• Work within department and with matrix partners to convert multiple competitive data points into actionable information for customers


• Identify new sources of competitive unit cost information, evaluate and analyze the new sources, involve appropriate matrix partners in the review, work with Strategic Sourcing to contract with vendors, work with internal matrix partners to implement information in a way that is actionable for customers.


• Engage in high profile negotiations as required


• Work with teams to review, analyze, determine opportunities and identify solutions to increase analytical processing efficiency and scalability in coordination with Pricing and Network Analytics.


• Maintain a close, productive and collaborative relationship with our IT and Global Data & Analytics partners.


• Support management in the long-term strategy and defining of priorities


• Special projects & other initiatives as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree required.

• Familiarity with health insurance data, including claims, eligibility, provider and benefit data


• Strong healthcare data and financial background


• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Strong understanding of Provider Contracting & contract negotiations. In-depth understanding of managed care business processes, data, systems, reimbursement methodology, case-mix adjustment, and applications for claims payment, providers, and utilization management.


• Experience working with Contracting, Sales, Network Analytics, Pricing, Underwriting, Financial Analysis, Competitive Intelligence, COB and Project Management a plus

• Self-starter with excellent analytical, technical, project management, interpersonal and customer service skills in a matrix organization. Ability to analyze and interpret both qualitative and quantitative provider data.

• Demonstrated ability to work at both the conceptual and very detailed levels and easily shifts between the two.


• Can manage multiple and sometimes competing tasks with tight deadlines.

• Ability to work productively in an environment that requires constant development of technical data skill sets.

• Experience in the use of relational database concepts and applications, specifically use of MS Access, SAS, SQL, Excel and other relevant software applications. Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) procedure as a data retrieval tool is a must. Specifically, the ability to write programs to perform queries on data and retrieve data from multiple tables/sources with SQL and SAS.


• Tableau skills and experience strongly preferred.


• Experience working with IT and matrix partners to build business requirements for a new tool or application, create the new tool or application, test and make needed enhancements, roll out new tool or application as needed.
