What you'll do on a typical day:


  • Review, negotiate and draft contracts across a variety of business functions, including subcontractor agreements, services and supplier agreements, NDAs and technology licenses

  • Provide timely, accurate and strategic legal advice and risk mitigation strategies to internal customers related to specific areas of accountability; support provision of research, advice and in-service training to internal customers related to transportation services and client matters

  • Lead and collaborate on certain divisional projects and initiatives related to legal, compliance and regulatory matters

  • Provide leadership and legal advice on a range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters

  • Support senior management in formal writings and responses regarding contractual interpretation and enforcement

  • Review and negotiate client agreements and amendments; partner with the onboarding team, analysts, sales and outside clients to identify issues, negotiate resolutions and respond to client inquiries

  • Identify legal risks for the company and provide solutions for limiting exposure

  • Research legal and business issues; provide timely responses to questions from internal business clients regarding processes, form agreements and policies

  • Assist in the development and redesign of legal support processes, templates and client-facing materials


What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:


  • J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic performance

  • 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney

  • Experience in commercial contracting (drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex contracts)

  • Active member in good standing of at least one state bar


It'd be great if you also have:

  • 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney

  • Experience with the regulatory aspects of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

  • Strong understanding of the laws, regulations and treaties governing the storage and movement of goods in commerce
