Job Description:

Arcadis is seeking a passionate Resident Engineer to join our expanding business in Long Island City, NY. In this position you will contribute to a variety of projects utilizing your technical knowledge and education. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


  • Provide support to the project team in ensuring construction quality, schedule, and cost performance, or monitoring thereof in agency roles,
  • Act as a project resource, individually or as part of a team, to support the supervision of the construction project within a specific discipline,
  • Carry out inspections and/or witness tests as directed to verify the quality of work and contractor compliance with all relevant contract specifications, specified working methods, and regulatory standards,
  • Identify and report on deviations from contract specifications and specified working methods in order to ensure these are rectified,
  • Actively contribute to the health, safety, and welfare of self and others through identification and reporting of potential Health and Safety hazards in the workplace,
  • Read and understand-approved contractor submissions (e.g. project drawings, method statements, approved materials) to be used as the benchmark for infield inspections and checks,
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and tests to ensure there is up-to-date access to supervision data and that these are stored in an appropriate format,
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge (for example, national regulations, standards and codes of practice) to ensure ongoing personal effectiveness,
  • Comply with safety, health and risk management policies in order to safeguard self and others,
  • Under supervision, deliver design, procurement, and construction phase services on a project,
  • Provide support to the project team in ensuring construction quality, schedule, and cost performance, or monitoring thereof in agency roles,
  • Work includes reviewing design and bidding documents; soliciting, receiving, and evaluating contractor bids; supervising construction progress and scheduling; starting up process systems/equipment or facilities for turning over to the owner's personnel,
  • Responsible for approval of change orders, invoices, and payment applications that may include final payment.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, similiar field or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to obtain EIT within 1 year of hire
