Night Operations Dispatcher to support Tankerman Services and CBC Transportation Services.
Provide after business and during business hours services to provide efficient use of the company's equipment and personnel.
Maximize customer service to allow for the achievement of company goals under the direction of the Manager of Tankerman Services. Rotating 12-hour shifts, day/ night 7 on 7 off.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Learn Canal Barge communication and computer systems to ensure flawless communications with customers, vendors, and Canal Barge employees. (i.e. TRAK, TowWorks, and other systems)
Answer incoming telephone calls and ensure they are forwarded or received by the appropriate party when further assistance is required.
Provide dispatch support for Tankerman Services Group and ensure that all Shore Tankermen (inhouse and third party) requirements are communicated in a timely manner.
Utilization of multiple sources of information and systems to ensure optimized use of manpower.
Monitor and enter Barge Maintenance reports in the Barge Maintenance Data Base.
Maintain an accurate log of all incoming calls, transfers, personnel locations, barge cleanings.
Provide a documented turnover report from night operations to the New Orleans Dispatcher and Tankerman Services daily.
Learn basic TRAK functions relating to movement of boats/barges, including loading, and unloading of barges.
Learn CBC barge services (customer commitments and requirements) and how to fulfill them under the direction of Manager of Tankerman Services.
Understand inland marine logistics (mile points of ports/fleets, etc.)
Coordinate with fleets and docks to dispatch tankerman or personnel.
Coordinate/communicate tankering services according to requirements
Coordinate/communicate barge cleaning according to requirements
Communicate issues to area Dispatchers for resolution
Develop working relationships across all Canal Barge Company business lines.
Develop working relationships with charter boats on tankerman needs. (i.e.: tandem transfers, unit tows, ship jobs)
Develop working relationships with tankerman services vendors, towing vendors, and fleets to ensure the timely and proper movement of equipment
Learn other Transportation Systems Department duties.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Minimum two years’ experience in the marine transportation industry preferred or a college degree.
The Night Dispatcher must be disciplined, motivated, proactive, fast-working, detail oriented, and a self-starter who can work without direct supervision daily.
