We are seeking Criminal Defense Attorney towork within the Allegheny County Office of Conflict Counsel to represent adultdefendants within the criminal justice system by organizing and maintainingeach case from arrest through appeal. The Allegheny County Office of ConflictCounsel represents clients who cannot, due to a conflict of interest, be representedby the Allegheny County Public Defender?s Office. The successful candidate willbe a full-time employee; as such, no other contracts for employment to performlegal services will be permitted.

EssentialDuties and Responsibilities

? Organizingand maintaining cases from arrest through appeal, including appearing for allcourt hearings (including jury trials).

? Draftingmotions and correspondences for cases.

? Preparingeach case as required for full and competent representation of the client. Thisincludes client contact, legal research and all preparations and pleadings.

? Visitingadult criminal defendants in local jails and interacting with witnesses fromdiverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

? Familiarizingself with resources available for adult defendants, including drug/alcoholprograms, sentencing alternatives, and other social programs

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities 

?  Excellentcommunication skills, both oral and written.

?  Ability to conductonline filing and research.

?  Ability to work as partof a team and be able to contribute to a group, as well as have individualsuccess.

Education/ExperienceRequirements

Candidate must have graduated from an ABA accreditedlaw school and be licensed to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania.

Salary: $41,000
