The Manager of Communications & Marketing reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communication strategy that supports strategic plan and enrollment management goals for Stevens’ graduate enterprise. The Manager will work closely with relevant partners from across the Office of Graduate Education and around the university to develop new and improve existing marketing and communications materials and strategies. The Manager will collaborate with staff from the Division of Communications and Marketing; Academic Communications; and Communications Managers from the School of Engineering & Science, the School of Systems & Enterprises, and the School of Business to promote Stevens’ graduate education at Stevens. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring effective engagement with relevant groups, including prospective students, parents, alumni, corporate partners, campus and local community members, news and media outlets, and higher education peers. The Manager will coordinate day-to-day operations while ensuring that all marketing and communications activities enhance brand awareness; improve brand identity; and increase the visibility of Stevens’ graduate programs to key audiences.  

Primary Responsibilities


  • Design, plan and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to ensure achievement of strategic plan goals, including increased enrollments and engagement among current students and alumni.

  • Define and persuasively communicate Stevens’ brand, articulating and reinforcing the key qualities that distinguish Stevens in highly competitive markets.

  • Work with academic and administrative units to support their recruitment, communications, and promotional efforts, including identifying new academic programs with high marketplace demand.

  • Conceptualize, write, edit, and approve all marketing materials including print, electronic, photographic and video content, consistent with overall marketing strategy. 

  • Conduct regular analyses and results in reporting of marketing campaign performance and proactively recommend media placements and tactics for recruitment optimization.

  • Oversee media planning and buying, including the production and placement of media advertising and evaluation of the effectiveness of each campaign via analytics.

  • Work with relevant staff to craft communications to the Stevens community on academic and student life issues, news and events, staff initiatives, strategic planning initiatives, community engagement and cross-campus partnerships, alumni engagement, new student orientations, annual events, and more. 

  • Continually evaluate the effectiveness of marketing materials, the quality, and impact of writing and visuals including online materials, the online experience, brochures, and other promotional materials.

  • Refine and take ownership of comprehensive communications calendar spanning all units within the Office of Graduate Education, ensuring that all communications are timely, consistent, and high-quality. 

  • Work with faculty and staff leaders to develop and maintain CRM communications that optimize conversions of inquiries and started applications.

  • Work with staff in all units to ensure proper maintenance of internal and external webpages.

  • Oversee the creation of newsletters to current graduate students (weekly) and alumni (monthly).

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or advertising.

  • Higher education experience is preferred.

  • Advanced and demonstrable skills in writing, proofreading, and editing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.

  • Superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Experience with CRM systems; Photoshop, InDesign, and/or Illustrator preferred.

  • Willingness to learn requisite tools to manage webpages.
