Category Manager Seasonal, Kroger Team
Cincinnati, Ohio

As a strategic partner to Kroger, the Seasonal Category Manager is responsible for providing fact-based, insight-led and actionable total category-focused solutions resulting in category growth for Kroger's Seasonal Confectionery business. Focus areas for this role will span providing best in class recommendations regarding category assortment, merchandising, shelving, pricing and promotion for Kroger. Close collaboration and leadership with the broader Kroger Sales, Category and Internal MW Seasonal teams will be critical to the success of this role.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor Degree

  • 3+ years Category Management experience, preferably on a Kroger Team

  • Analytical experience from situation assessment through solutions with tangible results leveraging a variety of data resources (84.51; IRI or Nielsen; Spectra, etc.)

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to create compelling data-based "stories" using PowerPoint

  • Strategic focus and ability to creatively solve problems

  • Advanced interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in an office based in Cincinnati, OH

  • Willingness to travel (up to 10% of time)

As the Lead Mars Wrigley Seasonal contact for Kroger, this associate will provide superior customer support in the following areas:


  • Primary point of contact for retailer's Seasonal Candy buying team regarding assortment, merchandising, pricing, and shelving.

  • Maintain and increase influence through robust insights and actionable recommendations that drive Seasonal Candy growth.

  • Assist sales team in developing fact and consumer-based selling stories on new items, promotions, assortment, shelving optimization, and pricing initiatives.

  • Work with the Category Team Lead, Category Director, Sales Team Lead, and Sales Director, and retailer to create strategic business plans that positively impact sales and profit.

  • Think enterprise wide; work with Mars Wrigley Category Leadership Strategy and Shopper Insights teams to leverage the latest insights and drive expansion of best practices across the enterprise.

  • Partner with Shopper Marketing & other internal teams to maximize promotional efficiencies for Mars Wrigley and the retailer.

  • Utilize a broad range of data sources, market research, tools, analyses, and technology to continually bring new insights & activations to the retailer.

  • Advanced analytical, project management, and written/oral communication skills required as well as the ability to think strategically.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills to manipulate data and present findings in a quick and easy to read format.
