Job Description:


This software developer position will be responsible for creating web applications that utilize identified (PHI) and de-identified medical data as part of a larger team in the Department of Biomedical Informatics. The candidate will be responsible for creating web user interfaces using HTML, JavaScript and CSS as well as backend web services to support the retrieval and research use of medical data including the mapping & conversion of medical (ICD10), pharmacy (SNOMED), and claims (e.g. UPMC Health Plan) coding systems. This position will support multiple ongoing, grant funded, research efforts. A Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is required. Experience creating custom web user interfaces using JavaScript and CSS is required. Experience using a JavaScript framework such as React or Angular is preferred. Experience creating modular components using Python (preferred) or Java is required. A good working knowledge of SQL to construct queries against relational databases is required. A working knowledge of medical or pharmaceutical coding systems is desired.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field. 2 years of related in class or on the job experience creating web applications. Requires extremely strong writing and communications skills. Prior experience with use of Microsoft Excel and Word required, experience with SQL preferred.
