The Andersons, Inc. - Denison, Iowa

This location's operations consists of a 65 million gallons per year ethanol production facility with an adjacent 22 million bushel grain terminal with direct access to two Class 1 railroads in Iowa. The Denison plant has been organized to provide investment opportunity for The Andersons as well as outside investors. As our first ethanol plant west of the Mississippi, it provides us with geographic diversity. The Andersons manages the operations at the plant and provide grain origination, risk management and dried distillers grains and ethanol marketing services. Ethanol, E-85, corn oil, dried distillers grains and syrup are available.

We are seeking a Processing Supervisor to join our Ethanol production team.  This facility operates 24x7 and works 2 shifts per day (7:00 - 7:00 each).  This team works on a two-week rotating schedule, alternating days and nights, including weekends. Candidates must be able to work both shifts.    

Position Overview

This position is responsible for managing small work teams in a fast paced, high volume, production environment.  Under direction of the Process Manager, the Processing Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day production of ethanol, to achieve productivity and quality goals while maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor and administer the requirements of the Process Safety Management and Mechanical Integrity programs.


• Track daily and weekly production. Identify issues, make recommendations for process improvement and execute corrective action when necessary.


• Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are developed, updated, and maintained.


• Develop team member knowledge and skills in key areas such as, safe work practices and plant operations via training, mentoring and competency certification.


• Lead operational integration of new processes.


• Assist and support in planning and executing planned maintenance outages.


• Assist with incident investigations.


• Fill in for Shift Foreman when needed and complete other tasks as assigned.
  
  

• Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a business or technical support or production team


• Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors


• Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan, receives guidance and oversight from a manager


• Typically, does not spend more than 20% of time performing the work supervised

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree required (Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline required)


• 3-5 years' relevant experience required (Production or Chemical environment preferred)


• 2+ years supervisor experience


• Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications


• Valid driver's license

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

Work is performed in a 24x7 Ethanol production facility. This position involves frequent exposure to adverse weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, noise, heights, and intermittent lifting of heavy objects. Some work performed in in heights. Must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Willing to work day or night shift based on company needs.
