Job Description and Responsibilities

EVRAZ North America is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support process improvement efforts and methodology within each of the EVRAZ Pueblo mills. This role is a key collaborator with Operational process experts and will partner with groups across the mills to deliver project results. This position is based in Pueblo, Colorado.


  • Designs process controls systems for our manufacturing lines; new and currently in use


  • What data collection sensors/devices, feedback loops, data storage, operator feedback displays


  • Manages training programs for process engineers in Six Sigma methods


  • Manages training programs for process engineers in Design of Experiments (DOE) methods


  • Manages training sessions for process engineers in problem solving methods (A3, fishbone, 4/6 square and FMEA, etc.)


  • Develops daily reports structure/philosophy for each manufacturing line based on (operational effectiveness) OEE or (Cost-of-Poor-Quality) COPQs requirements


  • Organizes annual reviews of OEE, COPQ, or product/process capability assessments and develops details for process improvements in time for annual Capex planning. If financial investment is required, provide support to Engineering/QA/Operations teams in the definition of the potential savings of process improvements.


  • Work with the Quality Assurance and Operations teams to ensure that shop floor documents and training identify the features of process control necessary (targets/tolerances; frequency of measurement, etc.) to maintain the process control system


  • Supports mill product development activities when required.


  • Attend six sigma, lean manufacturing and process control equipment conferences to stay abreast of process control techniques/advancements/ in the broader steel manufacturing industry


  • Lead team to address process control/product performance issues with a cross functional team by utilizing six sigma statistical tools and techniques to lead the group to a data driven solution


Requirements


  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science with advanced degree preferred


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a QA or Engineering team


  • Familiar with ISO Quality standards and Quality Management Systems including quality control planning for new products


  • Demonstrated experience in advanced statistical analysis techniques (MSA, ANOVA, SPC, Regression, Forecasting tools and designed experiments)


  • Demonstrated experience in applying root cause problem solving methods (Ford 8D, Ishikawa diagrams, Failure Mode Effects Analysis etc.) to manufacturing problems


  • Demonstrated experience using MS Excel or Minitab to analyze numerical data and draw conclusions


  • Experience giving presentations to management regarding project results


  • Experience writing technical reports summarizing key findings and identifying next steps


  • Experience working with interdepartmental teams at all levels of management to accomplish tasks


  • Experience working effectively with hourly and management ranks


  • Knowledge of steel processing and operations a plus


  • Knowledge of industry standards including API, CSA, AREMA and ASTM a plus


  • Six Sigma black belt qualification a plus


  • Experience teaching Six Sigma methodology a plus


  • Capable of using MS Office tools such as MS Word, and PowerPoint


  • Experience with programming including SQL, visual basic and IBA analysis tools a plus


Compensation

  • $93,800 - $107,900
