Performs professional work involved in the development and administration of policies and procedures of the Office of Equal Opportunity Services (EOS). Coordinates or participates in the development and delivery of training on equal employment opportunity issues (employment and education) on campus.

  • Maintains and influences University policies and procedures, and local state and federal rules and regulations related to Equal Employment Opportunity issues.
  • Leads in the investigations of EEO complaints, which includes interviewing witnesses, analyzing evident, making determinations, negotiating settlements and collaborating with University counsel.
  • In conjunction with deans, directors and vice presidents, manages or directly formulates courses or action to take in EEO complaints.
  • Leads or participates in the development and implementation of Equal Opportunity Services policies and procedures.
  • Leads or directly coordinates or participates in assessing and responding to needs of campus community, and developing training programs to meet these needs in the areas of diversity , sexual harassment, Title IX, ant other AA/EEO issues.
  • Determines appropriate information necessary to respond to external complaints, and writes case analyses for external complaints.
  • Monitors hearing procedures, which includes coordinating and training the hearing board, counseling participants, interpreting policies and enforcing deadlines.
  • May supervise or directly schedule, plan, coordinate and organize special events for the Office of Equal Opportunity Services.
  • May supervise or directly prepare, edit and produce publications for the Office of Equal Opportunity Services.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Bachelors and 3 years experience.

    Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

    Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

    Additional Information / Preferred Qualifications:

    Internal applicants only, current UH employees

    Requires a minimum of two (2) years of directly job-related experience. A candidate who possesses a Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) would be preferred.
