Job Title: Accountant I

Reports To: Accounting Manager

Position Summary

The Accountant I position is an integral member of the controller’s group located in the Channahon, IL. headquarters.  The position has a key role in general ledger maintenance, the monthly accounting close process and sales and use tax filing, as well as, assisting in internal and external audit work and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for both the headquarters and remote sites. 

Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Maintain the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts

  • Perform the monthly close process and reconciliation of account balance

  • Timely and accurate preparation and routing of all financial reports to local management and corporate headquarters

  • Responsible for accurate and timely filing of sales and use tax returns

  • Assist management with SOX compliance

  • Timely and accurate completion of various government reports

  • Monitor capital equipment spending

  • Perform other assignments as directed by your manager

Qualifications and Competencies:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • 1-2 years of experience in general accounting preferably in a manufacturing environment (will consider new graduates with high GPA)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Previous experience with AS400 and Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  • Proficiency with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and HFM Smart View and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) applications a plus

  • Assertive personality, but a team player

  • Must be able to articulate and defend positions and work with all levels of management

  • Strong analytical, technical and communication skills
