Senior Manager, Workday Integration

About the Opportunity
The Federal Reserve System is transitioning human resources, finance and procurement technology systems into one integrated cloud-based platform using the Workday and SAP Ariba product solutions. To support this new platform, operational support capabilities are being reorganized to be singularly focused on one goal - to deliver a world-class platform in support of the Federal Reserve's mission. As part of this effort, a new ERP Support Office (ESO) has been created to spearhead technical support of the new solution by establishing an agile team that will embrace change, drive innovation, and rapidly respond to the changing needs of stakeholders. Change of this magnitude does not happen quickly, so this transformation will occur over 18 months between 2021-2022. Positions are open within the ESO for subject matter experts to act as change agents as the transformation becomes a permanent reality.

A visionary, influential leader and agent of change, the Integration Lead will pioneer and mature the Program's ongoing product management model with an unrelenting push toward delivering excellent customer service. This role, with support and oversight from the Product Management Lead, will be responsible for operationalizing and leading the integrations activities that span the products provided. The Integration Lead will need to work collaboratively driving optimal service across the finance, human resources, and procurement business lines.

The ERP Support Office Integration Lead will be responsible for directing all integration activities associated with supporting the new finance, HR, and procurement System platforms. A successful candidate will lead integration work for the largest and most complex major ERP application within the FRS during the implementation and ongoing daily support of the cloud-based applications. S/he will be responsible for the adherence to and implementation of System-level architecture/design/development/security/support policies, procedures, and guidelines; coordination and management of the integration team to perform their daily duties; oversight of the architecture, design, deployment, testing, and support of new integrations between the Ariba/Workday platform and internal on-prem or cloud-based SaaS applications or third party providers; coordination and successful deployment of new integrations between the supported platform and other internal on-prem, Cloud-based applications, and third-party providers; oversight of integration architecture for the new Cloud-based environment; coordination with internal service providers such as National Integration Services and System IT; and leading the daily operations and management of a team of integration developers and architects to provide a stable platform. This role requires a thorough understanding of Workday's provided integration approaches (Workday Studio, Core Connectors, Web Services, Workday Integration Cloud, and Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB)).

What You Will Do:


  • Lead the team of ESO integration architects and developers to define, build, test, deploy, and maintain integrations between the Ariba/Workday platform and all connected systems and third-parties.
  • Develop, implement, and manage integration priorities to deliver best in class service levels.
  • Identify and select the right talent and resources to establish and mature the Integration Management team.
  • Develop a strong talent pipeline and foster a culture to effectively support business needs.
  • Direct responsibility for the Workday and Ariba integration environment including the following: Integration Maintenance & Management; Integration Architecture; Integration Design Pattern Development; Integration Development; Integration Queue Management; Scheduling Management for Integrations; Integration Infrastructure (sFTP Server) Oversight; Liaison with National Integration Services
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of integrations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on design and implementation of integrations.
  • Applies the principles of software engineering to the design, implementation, configuration, and optimization of solutions in support of applications, databases, test automation tools, DevOps processes, and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products.
  • Demonstrates technical skill in at least one programming general purpose language (Java, XML. XSLT, Python, etc.) and domain specific language (RESTful APIs) as needed.
  • Performs peer reviews using software engineering principles, patterns, and development guidelines.
  • Partners with customers in the development of innovative solutions that achieve business goals.
  • Reviews and analyzes business and technical requirements and implements technical solutions to meet those needs.
  • Provides on-call support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident management, and service request management for supported products and environments.
  • Coaches, delegates, and reviews work of less experienced staff, as well as serves as a knowledge resource.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Ability to lead by fostering a collaborative environment and gain consensus through influence
  • Demonstrated expertise in Agile methods, from structure and implementation to delivered results
  • Experience with integration design and development for Cloud-based platforms
  • Experience with Workday is required
  • Hands-on experience building Workday integrations using Studio, Cloud Connector, and EIBs.
  • Experience with the design, build, and test of BIRT reports
  • Expertise in foundational web service and API technologies such as WSDL, WS, SOAP, REST, XML, XSLT, and JSON.
  • Familiarity with Ariba integration and MuleSoft desired
  • Strong technical experience with XML and XSLT
  • Background in Dev/Ops and operational support
  • Experienced in building, leading, and mentoring diverse teams in a matrixed organization
  • Experience managing large scale PMO activities with multiple threads of project/program activity
  • Results-focused with an unrelenting push toward delivering value through standardization and ongoing improvements aligned to business needs.
  • Flexible and nimble leadership style that can shift quickly to new priorities and delivery of outcomes based on business needs.

  • Position requires demonstrated understanding of application and data principles and methods, significant architecture experience with mission-critical systems, and success with planning, designing, developing, and operating large-scale technology solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to express ideas in a clear, concise, and compelling manner; as well as ability to tailor communications for different audiences
