Job Description:

Leadership/Mentorship:

Lead and mentor all CMM Technicians on all shifts.
Assist Managers with scheduling and prioritizing projects. Work with other Supervisors and Team Leaders to schedule quality jobs and plan handoffs.
Effectively communicate with co-workers and management personnel to enhance teamwork and communication initiatives.
Shares knowledge of work practices with CMM Technicians, thereby enhancing the overall quality layout process and improving the entire team's throughput. Train new and existing employees on all aspects of Metrology, using Training Checklists as a guideline.
Know tooling and capability run dates, and communicate any information that would prevent those dates from being met.
Mentor new and existing employees in areas of needed skill development as appropriate to job duties and requirements.
Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management, including training and validating/appraising work of other less experienced Programmers and Technicians.
Be able to review and perform final Buy-off on any report going to a customer.
Back up department manager, being able to meet with customers and leadership in their absence.




Standard Work (Program and Plan)

Perform dimensional planning for new launch and prototypes, participating in Advanced Product Quality Plan/Dimensional Plan meetings as needed to help determine conflicts in blueprints, Computer Aided Design (CAD) data, and tolerancing issues, and establish dimensional plans and CMM inspection programs.
Create robust in-process inspection CMM programs for any/all shifts and related strategies.
Create, edit and run programs utilizing necessary software including Checkmate, Measuremax, Modus, Mechanical Desktop, PC-DMIS, ATOS, ARGUS, SolidWorks (as applicable).
Generate part programs using blueprints, CAD data, scanning software and CMM for prototype, die samples, and die components.
Create ballooned prints, inspection standards, Prototype Control Plans, or gage instructions, as applicable
Understand and explain GD&T concepts
Facilitate and own the scheduling and product flow of parts/jobs/fixtures throughout the lab using visual management tools and applicable record keeping systems, manage storage locations, and fixture gage labels in the gage tracking software as applicable.


Standard Work (Layout):

Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine programs
Set up a job with an advanced understanding of alignment methodologies and coordinate systems, using CAD, GD&T, Inspection Standards and Control Plans, and troubleshoot/run programs and machine, recovering from any measurement errors and modifying programs and setups to achieve repeatability and accuracy.
Ensure that all gages and fixtures are checked and certified, per company standards. Own layout of annual production part approval process (PPAP) parts and Annual Gage certification. Coordinate the recall of parts or gages from production, warehouse, or suppliers, complete monthly dimensional reports, store gages, and send reports to engineers. Coordinate outside sources for parts or gages as needed. Maintain electronic files of annual PPAP, gage certification, or other calibrations.
Perform layouts using ball gages and hand measurement tools. Ensure repeatability of measurements by following instructions (gage instructions, inspection standard, etc.) and best practices.


Standard Work (Report):

Prepare clearly annotated text and labeled reports for customer/internal submission.
Generate, interpret, and explain results text and graphical reports using "Capability 6 pack", ANOVA Gage R&R, labeled reports, Excel AIAG reports, and statistical analysis (as applicable).


Standard Work (Analyze):

Perform Gage R&R studies and Capability Studies (on Gage or CMM) and perform hand tool calibrations, troubleshooting and repairing gages as needed.
Review scanning results and CMM inspection programs and ensure the results are understood by the parties involved.
Troubleshoot, using Root Cause Browser, resolving gage repeatability issues and demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot or repair equipment


Continuous Improvement/Lean Principles:

· Suggest and implement ideas to increase personal and departmental efficiency. Communicate potential cost savings to other Technicians and Team Leaders.·
Participate in, and support lean initiatives such as continuous improvement events and problem solving events, identifying and eliminating all types of waste
·Assist to resolve Customer Concerns by actively participating in corrective action teams.·
Continually increase knowledge of necessary software tools, including Checkmate, Measuremax, PCDMIS, MS Office, ATOS, and Mechanical Desktop (MiniTab, SolidWorks), and share learned knowledge with team members.


5S:

Organize and maintain the schedule for cleaning and general maintenance of the CMM's, Gages, and Measurement Equipment by filling out logs of activities, performing necessary PM's as scheduled.
Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
Follow all safety procedures, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Identify potential safety issues and take appropriate action. Ensure environment is free of avoidable risks, and report concerns immediately, taking appropriate action to immediately rectify and resolve.
Organize and maintain personal work area and quality area per 5S standards


Organization/Communication/Professionalism:

Effectively communicate with co-workers and management personnel to enhance teamwork and communication initiatives.
Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management.
