Job Description:

The Marketing Manager/Senior Manager for Genetic Disease Testing is responsible for supporting the creation of strategies and executing the tactics required to drive the growing global market for the rare disease market. This person will contribute to building global strategy, lead on-market activities, including global sales training, targeting, messaging, positioning, collateral development and asset library management. This is a phenomenal opportunity for a passionate marketer to make a significant impact in a market segment driving meaningful change in the care of children and adults with a rare disease. The successful candidate will be a highly independent, motivated marketer who can creatively lead cross-functional programs while building best-in-class marketing capabilities in a novel space. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

·      Develops and executes rare disease global marketing strategy; partners with Emerging Markets, Market Access, and Regional Marketing teams to lay the foundation for new product entries and partnerships, and to manage current portfolio

·      Works in tandem with regional marketing and sales organization to ensure alignment of strategy, messaging, and tactics

·      Responsible for management of asset library, optimizing content performance and recognition of needs and opportunities for new content development

·      Partners with internal and external agency teams to develop marketing content (campaigns, positioning, messaging, etc.)

·      Develop a set of sales enablement tools and assist sales teams by providing guidance for product messaging and positioning, objection handling and identifying target customers.

·      Collaborates deeply with upstream marketing and product management on VOC, product design inputs, and launch strategy

·      Draws insights from analysis of customer performance, evaluating quarterly trends, and ensuring portfolio data informs marketing strategy 

·      Builds close relationships with key customers, thought leaders, and industry influencers to stay abreast of emerging market trends and regulatory guidance

·      Collaboratively works with the marketing leadership team and functional management to drive the business strategy

Preferred Educational Background

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, Masters or PhD a plus.

Preferred Experiential Background

• Must have 3-5 years of experience marketing to both laboratories and clinicians

·      Experience in marketing, sales and/or market development in life sciences, or related industries required

·      Experience and understanding of genomic technologies and how they can be utilized in the GDT market

• Must have designed the strategy for, and lead the execution of, multiple successful marketing programs and clinical product launches;

• Must have strong analytical skills and ability to tie detailed analysis to larger strategy;

• Must have demonstrated effective collaboration in matrixed or highly cross-functional business settings;

• Demonstrated track record of successfully building new clinical markets is strongly preferred;

• Experience with genomics markets and/or diagnostics product lines is strongly preferred;

·      Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills

·      Proven ability to lead and influence a broad spectrum of constituents (product management, sales, etc.) with divergent interests in order to create a defined and focused course of action

Location at San Diego HQ is strongly preferred

Title and level are flexible depending on the skill set on the candidate.
