Team Overview:

This position will be part of an agile product development team focused on delivering resilient performant software systems that capitalize on business opportunities and mitigate business risks.  The technical team members work in a highly collaborative manner with our business counterparts.

The Role:

The Principal DevOps Engineer will work on the firm’s most important product development projects, leveraging system engineering and debugging expertise to drive production uptime and stability as well as enhance the observability and resiliency of those platforms. They will be responsible for successfully working with globally distributed platform aligned teams across technology to deliver results.
 

The primary responsibilities of this role include driving the observability, reliability, availability, performance, capacity planning, and operational support for the products under their purview.  In this role, you leverage automation and orchestration tooling, along with infrastructure-as-code patterns to support your endeavors.

Essential Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and implement fully automated DevOps Engineering for the D&B Connect product suite 

  • Lead production operations for the D&B Connect suite of products. 

  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to improve Mean Time To Identification (MTTI), Mean Time To Resolution (MTTR), and Mean Time To Failure (MTTF).

  • Reduce fault rates and increase the velocity in the system by building a strong CI/CD Pipeline process, with toolchain established by the Global DevOps practice.

  • Directly collaborate with the senior management and all product stakeholders to understand business requirements, help drive alignment and build thoughtful solutions throughout your team.

  • Contribute to the Global SRE and DevOps CoEs to establish and adapt current and evolving industry best practices (processes, tools and ideas) 

  • Be involved in the development of scalable, distributed software systems, and work on other projects that require research, awareness, interactivity, and the ability to ask the right questions 

  • Supervise, mentor and develop the extended team of DevOps and Release engineers from our Global Development Centers (including consultants)  

  • Participate in design and code reviews to stress concepts of monitorability, resiliency, auto-recovery, and anti-fragile design     

  • Proactively lead the building and implementation of services as needed to enhance monitoring, alerting, and recoverability 

  • Lead the root cause analysis and identification of relationships between processes and events.     
     

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent professional experience. 

  • 10+ years of experience. Preferable 5+ years in either Release automation or production support for an enterprise-level platform with high-availability requirements along with a strong understanding of concept pertaining to system availability, resiliency, and recoverability

  • Demonstrated experience guiding, mentoring and building highly performant teams

  • Programming/scripting experience with any major programming language.

  • Working knowledge DevOps responsibilities: infrastructure-as-software tools (Terraform experience is a strong plus) along with CI/CD implementation best practices

  • Ability to thrive in a high energy, high growth, fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.  Willing to learn new skills and implement new technologies

  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and the able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Highly-collaborate team player who can build strong relationships at all levels of the technology and business organizations
