Job Description:

Arcadis is looking to hire an Environmental Scientist to support our Environment Permitting group. As an Environmental Scientist, you will assist Project Managers, Engineers, and Scientists with tasks associated with environmental permitting, project siting, and data analysis. This position may be based out of any of your U.S. offices.

This position will support a variety of clients from a range of sectors such as linear utilities, oil and gas, rail and transit, and renewable energies, all presenting an array of environmental challenges. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in providing support for environmental planning and permitting, linear routing and siting, and environmental data management, including spatial data collection, ArcGIS Online, and Enterprise GIS.

This environmental scientist will have experience with linear utility routing and siting methodology. Problem-solving skills and experience with the latest versions of ESRI products are required, as well as the ability to perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with exceptional quality in the work product.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Provide support for environmental permitting, environmental data management, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data collection/analysis
  • Prepare siting and routing analyses, share and collaborate with clients, prepare associated reports and memos, and support any related public outreach efforts
  • Assist with critical issues analyses and desktop reviews for environmental planning and permitting efforts
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams which include environmental specialists, engineers, planners, cultural resources specialists, and project managers
  • Assist with the support and development of permit applications, including Clean Water Act (CWA) permitting, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reporting, and state specific Public Utilities Commission (PUC) siting applications
  • Assist with the development of mobile data collection methodologies utilizing mobile technology
  • Keep apprised of currently available software solutions, new technology, and data integration techniques
  • Maintain organized files and reports, including field survey and other data #LI-CA1

Required Qualifications :


  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Sciences, Geographic Information Systems, Biology, Planning or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental consulting or a related field
  • Previous consulting experience related to transmission line and natural gas pipeline siting

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Masters Degree, Geographic Information Systems Certificate, GISP
  • Experience with OPSB, SCC, MPUC applications
  • Experience in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Python, Autocad

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rules: Arcadis offers benefits for full time positions. Full time positions also come with annual PTO days and at certain levels a bonus program may apply. The Salary range for this role is $50k-$86k for Colorado based positions only. Other locations will vary in salary range.
