Arconic is currently in search of Financial Accounting Services Manager to join our Global Financial Services group in Pittsburgh, PA.
Financial Accounting Services (FAS) provides comprehensive accounting services for all Locations across various global regions. This position is responsible for meeting accuracy and high competency requirements of general ledger/sub ledger accounting and account reconciliation; strictly following the rules of the Company Financial Management Handbook and SLA Agreements with Shared Services customers; following the Process Descriptions and SOPs agreed upon with each region.
Major Activities/Key Challenges:
The responsibility includes application of company's accounting modules. To accurately maintain financial records of locations within ERP system and in a manner reflecting realities by proper bookkeeping of the received data. Working across remote locations: develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with and leverage learning between regions. Establishing and maintaining professional working relationship with the Business Units Contacts. Seeking process improvement opportunities, to share best practices and to implement standard processes. Ensuring compliance with accounting and process related guidelines and adhering to all established procedures.
Key Objectives:
Performs the general accounting functions and month end closing process for complex operating locations while serving as the primary point of contact for company's operating locations. Works with Locations to meet with company KPIs, 6 PM period closing deadline.
Usage and maintenance of company accounting, control and reporting systems (Oracle, Hyperion, RST, ASP, ARMP, etc.)
Conducts pre/post-closing / reconciliation related conference calls with locations as required
Owns the monthly closing check-list process: monitors tasks throughout the month, reviews and updates the list timely. Escalates any error, issue, deficiency to the Manager. Reviews location income statement and balance sheet fluctuations (NAM only)
Explains intercompany out of balance >$100,000
Reviews monthly COA update for changes impacting her/his locations
Solves problems to root cause to prevent recurrence.
Compiles and submits financial reports on behalf of the business units or locations (tax packages, month end analysis reports, periodic government reports and other ad hoc requests from the location, business unit or corporate finance functions, reports for tax, for audits) where applicable.
Derives/books transactions related to business acquisition and/or divestiture.
Ensures accounting is performed according to the department's defined standards and the work is completed by defined deadlines. Any issues with the work or schedule are escalated to the Manager in a prompt manner.
Maintains active and frequent communication with location accounting representatives and business unit personnel and regularly shares this information with team members and manager.
Actively mentor colleagues within the team - shares, trains - and seeks new ideas to improve processes.
Works with BU / location contacts continuously to identify areas of improvement and value creation in all service areas.
Acts as an expert resource for location personnel in answering questions and providing direction on all areas of accounting.
Ensures that account reconciliations are completed and updated in Reconciliation Tool. The reconciliation process includes reconciliation review, this position performs and monitors both processes. This position is also expected to revisit the prior period(s) review notes for completeness and accuracy, provides face to face communication and mentoring when notes do not meet the department's defined standards. Review list of unreconciled accounts and mentor fellow team members and/or location personnel to complete reconciliations for these accounts.
Complexity of general ledger/sub ledger accounting services range from routine, recurring Business processes (BP) with moderate to high complexity transactions and reconciliations\analysis. To perform/control centralized business processes.
This position coordinates and participates in Company Self-Assessment Test (ASAT) testing procedures, including the monthly peer review process. The position monitors adherence to standard operating procedures through every accounting cycle and suggests updates to procedures as needed. The position improves and standardizes processes using ABS principles. This position also is responsible for maintaining complete compliance and control over the centralized business processes to which they are assigned a leadership role.
The job holder works in alignment with the manuals and documented processes related to his/her work on the quality systems, environmental protection, safety, and labor hygiene management system of the Company.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Management, or Economics from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 5 years working experience in accounting finance or controlling

Master' degree in accounting/finance/management/economics
