We are seeking a full time flight test support intern for our Salem, OR office. As an intern, you'll be responsible for these essential functions:


  • Learns about and assists with a range of flight test engineering activities that involve pilot manual and flight manual revisions, test plan writing, flight test crew member participation, data reduction/analysis, and report preparation for inclusion into certification documents 

  • Assists personnel responsible for avionics equipment installation and preparation of test aircraft to obtain the proper configuration for the required testing 

  • Works with Engineering in Olathe, Salem and Taiwan to develop a list of device features and recording capabilities.

  • Performs data reduction/analysis to assist development of systems and to provide certification basis for the desired products 

  • Learns to modify  equipment and aircraft configurations in coordination with engineering labs and flight operations for development and certification  

Interns may also have the opportunity to assist in installation, setup, calibration and maintenance of flight operations simulators.

 

 

 

Qualified candidates will possess the following education, experience and skills:

 

 


  • High school graduate

  • Demonstrates proficient knowledge of MS Office products

  • Demonstrates understanding and some familiarity with data graphing software

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Garmin’s overall product line and customers

  • Other education and/or experiences as required for the specific projects or products he/she will develop

 

Candidates with a Pilot’s license and/or ratings and/or who are pursuing education in professional pilot program or aviation related field are preferred.

 

Knowledge of or previous experience with aircraft data acquisition systems, previous computer programming experience and software language familiarity, and/or FAA medical certificate, third class or higher are also desirable skills.
