EVRAZ has an immediate opening for a Non-Ferrous Laborer at our Colorado Springs recycling facility. This is a physically demanding role that is performed in all weather conditions. The day-to-day work focuses on preparing materials for loading and unloading.

• Sort, bale and package materials in the yard


• Load and unload materials outgoing and incoming shipments on trucks, trailers bins, etc. from peddlers and commercial customers


• Work with yard inspector and operators to minimize yard congestion and ensure a smooth traffic flow


• Use hand-held mobile radio devices to effectively coordinate tasks and resources between the yard and scale


• Inspect and grade ferrous and nonferrous material


• Work in nonferrous warehouse as needed/help out with inventory, material sorting, organization and cleanliness as needed

Requirements

• No experience necessary but previous work experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar scrapyard/auto part environment will be considered an asset


• Able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting and pushing and pulling up to 70 pounds throughout the day


• Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions


• Knowledge of warehouse operations such as shipping and receiving of materials


• Knowledge and understanding of metallic materials purchased, ferrous and non-ferrous classifications, an asset


• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to understand and communicate numerical data


• Able to work with minimal supervision/general oversight
