Director, Treasury at Prudential Ins Co of America

Job Description:

The responsibilities will include supporting the following functions:


  • Lead the partnership with Corporate Treasurers, Controllers, P&A, Portfolio Management and Tax to complete quarterly capital forecast, actual reporting, and various projects. Main deliverables include preparations of Required Capital, FX hedging, solvency / statutory capital forecast, cash flow analysis, excess capital, and other capital related items

  • Lead the partnership with PII’s Japan region to optimize capital deployment while maximizing returns and supporting risk requirements

    • Review and challenge statutory (Japan GAAP) and US GAAP projections in support of maximizing sustainable Free Cash Flow deployment

    • Analyze, advocate and optimize the emerging capital frameworks most impacting Japan, primarily the Economic Solvency Requirement (ESR) under the International Capital Standards (ICS)

    • Lead initiatives designed to optimize risk/return profile of the various legal entities that the Japan insurance companies operate through



  • Support the enhancement of enterprise risk management frameworks, including Treasury capital and liquidity stress testing frameworks (i.e. Capital Protection Framework and Liquidity Stress Testing)

  • Support M&A initiatives for the International Division of Prudential including capital, liquidity and return analysis

  • Provide treasury support for the International Division, including corporate finance, capital management, borrowing, liquidity and cash management


  • Prepare analysis under different capital lenses to determine the amount of risk in our countries and the appropriate amount of capital to support the risk. 

  • Development of related presentations for senior management, rating agencies, regulators, and the Finance Committee/Board of Directors

Responsibilities of the position may vary depending on the candidate’s background, skills, and experience. Other responsibilities include preparation of earnings call materials, various ad hoc requests from local operations and Corporate functions and supporting the forecast process redesign.

Qualifications:


  • 6+ years financial related experience (FP&A and/or Capital Management experience preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting is preferred; MBA, CFA and/or CPA a plus

  • Strong analytical, inter-personal and communication skills

  • Experience working with global/international business partners

  • Knowledge of US GAAP and/or STAT financial statements, including knowledge of Risk Based Capital (RBC) / Solvency Margin Requirement (SMR), Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement (BSCR)

  • High degree of self-motivation, passion to succeed, ownership, attention to detail and innovation

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Demonstrated ability to work through issues independently and through leading a team

  • Multi-tasking and ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Knowledge of Prudential’s financial systems (Obero, Oracle, etc.)

  • Travel is not expected
