Position Summary

The Graphics Specialist is responsible for supporting the print production process for packaging. Specifically, you would have the responsibility for successful planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of multiple packaging graphics projects within our company’s strategic growth plans. You will also support preparation of project schedules; partnering with project management and cross-functional teams. The position reports to the Manager, Graphics and will be based in Napa CA.

Responsibilities


  • Support the print production process including tracking and communicating project status, developing and tracking timelines, identifying and resolving delay risks for select wine and spirits packaging.


  • Partner with design agencies, marketing & print vendors to ensure timelines are maintained, files are released correctly, and colors are approved. 


  • Manage multiple concurrent ops lead and supplier transition projects.


  • Lead pre-production meetings with printer. Guide pre-press discussions and provide feedback on color proofs and draw downs.


  • Coordinate cross functional artwork approval process for packaging compliance.


  • Coordinate mechanical release to printer of printed packaging, track from release through approval of color standards.


  • Review and approve pre-press proofs for accuracy proofing against the released mechanical, specs database and feedback from the pre-production call. Coordinate changes with the supplier as necessary.


  • Attend press checks and approve color as projects require.


  • Partner with procurement team, graphics manager and project management to ensure graphics timelines are in line with bottling dates.


  • Prepare and catalog packaging mechanicals in digital asset manager.


  • Ensure all packaging assets are collected and cataloged for all new packaging projects.


  • Handle files requests as necessary.


Minimum Qualifications


  • 1-3 years of experience managing the production of printed packaging.


  • Bachelor’s degree or additional equivalent experience.


  • A good understanding of offset lithography, flexographic and gravure print processes.


  • Experience in press-side approvals.


  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.


  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills. Excellent communications skills.  Detail oriented.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator a plus.


  • Knowledge of project management, artwork approval and DAM systems.


Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Lifting may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
