POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary functions of the Crusher Operator/Mechanic are to operate the crushing plant, inspect and analyze malfunctions, perform skilled maintenance, repairs, and rebuild crushing equipment, conveyors, and other plant-specific components. This position is considered a working hourly position and will require equipment and plant operating along with primary maintenance responsibilities. Willing to train the right candidate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Direct and coordinate operation, preventative maintenance, repairs, and malfunctions of crushing plant, consulting with Production Superintendent as needed.

  • Direct workers engaged in crushing operations.

  • Electrical troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Dismantles and reassembles equipment using hoists, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Weld broken part and structural member using cutting torch and welding equipment.

  • Demonstrate skills in basic fabrication.

  • Order and maintain inventory of plant parts.

  • Perform general cleaning of work area and maintenance areas.

  • Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate problems, improve product quality and assure the operational status of company plants does not affect the production of material for customers.

  • Assist other departments with maintenance, operations, and/or other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently within its designed parameters.

  • Regular and timely attendance.

  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

             

ASSIGNMENT OF DUTIES:

Work for this position is assigned, reviewed, and approved by the Production Superintendent on an as-needed basis.

DECISION MAKING:

Decisions involving the above responsibilities are encountered on a day-to-day basis. The Crusher Operator/Mechanic is expected to rely on professional judgment to make decisions while working. Decisions regarding changes in company policy or major deviations in the standard company operating procedures will require the approval of the Operations Manager or General Manager.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: Previous experience with crushing operations and/or maintenance required. Previous experience coaching, leading, and/or supervising others required.

Knowledge: Of crushing and production equipment and repairs. Use of machines, tools, equipment; mechanic’s hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting equipment, lubricating tools, hoists, cranes, service trucks, electrical testing, and troubleshooting equipment. Basic computer skills required.

Work Hours:  Hourly, full-time position with the potential for travel, long hours, and weekends during peak times.

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude toward supervisors, coworkers, and the public at all times.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, background check controlled substance testing.

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
