JOB SUMMARY

The Strategy & Communication Summer Internships at the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) (headquartered in Rockville, MD) are designed to provide training and experience to undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in health care systems, public relations, writing and digital communications, including social media. The internship duration is flexible; with a typical duration of 12 weeks between May and August. The internship is primarily remote with orientation at the Rockville, MD regional office, and the potential for offsite work at medical centers in Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications interns will work directly with experienced communications professionals, physician subject matter experts and spokespeople to develop content for social media, internal newsletters, external websites and other public relations activities. Past projects included interviewing physicians and writing blogs and articles for internal and external audiences, developing graphic design templates, planning and supporting live events, creating short videos and creating and implementing social media campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a college student working towards Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing or similar programs


• Design and photography skills are a plus. Science writing skills are a plus.


• Ideal interns are self-starters, energized by a fast-paced work environment, and enjoy working in teams


• Ability to exercise exceptional judgment


• Excellent attention to detail and are interested in improving health care delivery.
