Purpose Statement / Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center. The employee shall support Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center's strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

The Emergency Care Technician (ECT) is an unlicensed caregiver working under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Physician. The ECT provides the most basic of patient care including, but not limited to: vital sign collection, specimen collection, performance of ECG testing, and delivery of personal hygiene/physical care. ECT's perform tasks as assigned and are instrumental in facilitating departmental/unit flow activities that support patient care and promote a safe, clean environment.Experience

High school diploma or equivalency

One year acute care experience preferred

Basic computer knowledge preferred

Education

Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required
Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers card
