POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting the physician and registered nurse in caring for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. The position is responsible for maintenance and disinfection of endoscopic and accessory equipment

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Required to work a minimum of four shifts per four-week period in their home unit.
Required to work one major holiday per year (winter: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year). This holiday must be scheduled on the Associate's home unit. Must observe principles of universal protocol
Responsible for implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients.
Responsible for direct patient care given to his/her assigned patients.
Responsible for informing a R.N. of any pertinent changes in the patients' condition.
Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for maintaining Endoscopy equipment and supplies.
Responsible for managing assigned tasks, supplies, and equipment.
Appropriately carries out assistant activities during procedure/treatment to ensure asepsis and safety of patient.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Excellent telephone and customer relations skills
Experience with patient safety best practices preferred.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information
Physical dexterity especially with hands and fingers bilaterally
Must be familiar with computerized technology associated with endoscopy equipment.
Training as an endoscopy technician hospital background preferred.
Demonstrated proficient communication skills.
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education/Skills/Experience:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of one (1) year Endoscopy Tech/Surgical Tech experience required
B. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
Endoscopy Technician Certification; must be obtained within one year of employment
