We're actively seeking a highly motivated and talented analyst for our Underwriting Rules Solutions role to join the Life Insurance Division (LID). This position will work with our team based in Southern California, but is also eligible to work fully remotely. In this role, you'll work on project efforts in support of our underwriting roadmap and transformational journey.

Position Summary:


  • Present recommendations and/or solutions to business and technical stakeholders and team members.

  • Work closely with Life Underwriters to recommend, document, build and test rules for automated underwriting platform.

  • Maintain proper documentation of rules releases including rules philosophy, scope documents, and release notes.

  • Test and validate rule using various testing tools and techniques.

  • Analyze and triage production issues related to rules.

  • Collaborate with other members of Automated Underwriting Scrum team.

  • Identify and recommend rules improvement opportunities to enable straight-through underwriting and to increase underwriter efficiency and productivity.

  • Using Tableau Desktop, create custom reports and dashboards that range from small to medium in complexity.

  • Validate and test reports and dashboards created by both internal Underwriting team and Business Intelligence Team.

  • Learn Data Warehouse and Data Source structure to act as Subject Matter Expert for the Business Intelligence team as they create custom data sources and reports.

  • Works on miscellaneous, ad hoc projects, as assigned by management.

Tech & Tools You'll Use

Munich Re Allfinanz Rules Designer, Tableau Desktop and Server, SOAP UI, Agile Methodology, JIRA, MS Teams, SharePoint, Confluence, Excel and other Microsoft Office products

Qualifications


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the life insurance industry, preferably in support of the Life underwriting process.

  • 2-3 years' experience with Life underwriting rules engines preferred.

  • Proven ability to understand technology and translate it into useful business processes and practice.

  • Requires strong verbal and written communication.

  • Requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to organize data and documents, with a close attention to detail.

  • Project management and/or process improvement experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Additional skills and/or experience may result in a higher level.

  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced Life underwriter with a strong technical background and desire to work on systems.
